When my twins started kindergarten last September, I had no idea the impact that one little classmate would have on us. In my son’s class there was a charming and adorable boy, William. We had met William years ago when my twins and he were at the same clinic getting various physical, occupational and speech therapy. So to discover him again in our kindergarten class was a very surprising treat! Unbeknownst to me, this little dude was born with something called Prader-Willi Syndrome
. Otherwise known as PWS, this genetic disorder reeks havoc on the bodies and minds of innocent souls, not to mention the upheaval and adjustments needed by their families.
There is a lot to learn about Prader-Willi Syndrome
, so please read up, donate, participate and help. And by all means, SHARE.
When William’s mom organized, fundraised, spread the word and went all out about One Small Step for Prader-Willi Syndrome, it took me no time at all to jump at the chance to participate in the event. We all gathered at the Santa Monica Airport Park and enjoyed friends, family, and food, wonderful music by DidiPop
and Randy Kaplan
and the successful rallying efforts of Palisades High Cheerleading Squad.
